Wear Your Metal

We all love to have our own style. That’s why we rock so hard. You’re uniquely you and there’s now a thousand ways to express that. From sites like Zazzle where you can customize frickin’ skateboard (!) to finding some kick ass jewelry to discovering amazing custom shoes!

For the jewelry, you simply gotta check out the creations by Lisa Jenkins of “Metal and Gems”. She designs for musicians and lots of stuff for drummers! She’s got a killer dog tag set and yes, one of them is named after Bam! Woo hoo! I frequently wear one of her gorgeous pieces with a skull and wings on it. Her style of jewelry is very cool and is always expanding.

pinkcon2As for bein’ metal… my incredibly talented step son, Max has his own site, Devour the Beast where his hat and shoe designs are showcased! I must admit my absolute favorite pair of Converse are the ones he customized for me. They are sooooo wickedly cool and I get comments everytime I wear them.

So step out and make your statement about how metal you really are. Go on. You know you want to.

Peace out.

Life is Good with Raw Chocolate Pudding for Avodisiacs

iggySo many things happening at once! Wow! We’ve been having a cold spell in Florida but …. we all know it will pass. The iguanas which many people think are indigenous to Florida have been dying from the freezing temperatures. In fact, they are not native to Florida at all and were brought here as pets and then let out to be wild and they reproduced in large numbers! Here is a pic of one on top of our screen enclosure above the pool:

This particular iguana left us a lovely gift that day. Yes. He shit upon our screen! Hilarious. Ya gotta laugh. Mother nature just does what it wants and we try to live in it, live around it, live in spite of it, live in our walls to keep it out.. ha ha!!!

bamnshazbeachbamOf course, we have still gone to the beach and enjoyed the sunshine.

Ya can’t stop us from going to the beach! Woohoo!

Can you tell we LOVE the beach!!??!!!

Our mate from the Ukraine, Ally lives here in Florida and we enjoyed a lovely holiday dinner with her at our house! Bam is surrounded by Xmas honies!!! Woohoo!

bamshazallyThe house we moved into is severely crazy with lime green carpet! Think 70’s and you’ll get it.house Sammy, Dean and Frank coulda totally hung out in this place. The white piano came with the house if you can believe that! Bam has been crazy busy building out a room into our studio with soundproofing and sound treatment etc. It’s crazy moving 3000 miles and not knowing many people .. but we are crazy people and it’s cool.

greensAs for the carpet… it is not just lime green, it is SHAG! As in shagedelic! Yeah baby. This house is making us become Austin Powers inspired I swear!

VIDEO CONTEST AVODISIAC WITH CHOCOLATE PUDDING

Oh, we entered this video contest and are currently in the finals! Woohoo! It is promoting avocados which if you know me, you know they are my favorite food. I adore avocados! When we moved in to our home here, I was so excited to discover our neighbor across the street came over and introduced himself and then handed us an avocado from his garden! Wow! And yes, it was really really really good.

shazinwaterBe an avodisiac and eat raw chocolate pudding!!!

Anyway, our video is up to win and if you have time and energy and wanna help us win… you can simply view it a bunch of times during the voting period which ends Midnight on January 17th. If you want a chance to win $100, sign yourself up on the site and then you can vote for us. You can only vote once but this also gives you the opportunity to leave us a comment and let us know you love us! Mwah!

I Am a Floridian Now!

After much discussion between Bam and myself and one trip to visit South Florida and find a house… we fell in love with it here and have now moved in to our home complete with solar heated swimming pool! Wow! Can’t believe we actually up and moved from LA to Florida! There is a fantastic raw foodie scene what with the Hippocrates Institute nearby and we are visiting what is reputed to be the absolute best farmer’s market tomorrow. “Josh’s Organic Garden“. We have been to the Soma Center a few times for yummy raw foods and the people there are so incredibly nice and gracious. In fact, everyone has been very forthcoming and welcoming.

delray_beach1Our neighborhood is gorgeous and I keep feeling as if I’m in a dream or something. It is sooooooo quiet! Where are the choppers? Searchlights? Gunshots? Amazing! And the beaches? Okay… I should stop in case some of you want to move here and make it too crowded. The beaches… seriously… warm clear water and nicely kept beaches. What more could ya want?

As an options trader, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that on the east coast, the market opens up at the lovely more rock n roll hour of 9:30. Plus I’ve already met a bunch of my fellow Florida Trading Group (part of the Sheridan Community that I’m in) and they are all just fabulous! Truly. Yet again… a welcoming bunch of kindrid spirits.

I will post photos soon… for now we are so busy fixing and repairing the bazillions of things that you gotta deal with on a home purchase. But the photos will rock you. I promise.

Lovestains Song and Free Rock Camp and the Importance of Smiling!

Well, we finally got around to finishing a song by our new band, The Lovestains. You can hear it at our myspace page! Hope you dig it. lovestains-coming-soon

Bam and I have been working on a bunch of songs that are a little different to The Lovestains and we will put those up under a different band name eventually. When we do… there will be a lot of them!

Remember, Rock n Roll Fantasy Camp is coming up soon in November! I am honored and thrilled to be one of the Rock Star Counselors so if you’re attending you can request me as your counselor! You can also win a Rock Camp Rockstar Package Giveaway from Guitar Edge magazine!

john-sr040Now on a personal note, my mom used to tell me, “If you greet the world with a frown, the world frowns back at you. If you greet the world with a smile, then the world will smile back at you.” This was something she’d learned first hand when she was in highschool. She was extremely smart, but had to wear thick glasses and had flaming red hair which didn’t exactly add up to being the most popular of the girls. But she practiced what she preached and not only was she popular in a wonderful way, she was also class valedictorian. Her words of wisdom flash through my mind at this time as it is about one week from the 4th anniversary of her death. I celebrate her life which was very full of vivaciousness and positive attitudes. She taught me the gift of laughter, she tried to teach me patience (not sure if I’ve learned that yet) and she always reminded me that when things were tough… “this too shall pass”. She and my dad were married for over 50 years and I feel so fortunate to have had loving parents who believed in me. (my dad died 3 years ago). As for my dad, he was always ready with an optimistic point of view. He was into organic gardening before it was trendy!!! (1970’s in Minnesota!) Of course, it is because of him that I am now proud to say, I’m an options trader. He really made me believe that I could teach myself ANYTHING! They gave me numerous gifts that last a lifetime like the love of knowledge and of course… the love of music. Rock on everyone and remember… smile.

Foraging

jun6bananasLately, we wake up and the mornings are clouded over and rainy and by mid afternoon, there’s a breeze that has blown the clouds away and the sun is valiantly trying to shine thru. But it hasn’t stopped us from our daily walks. We’ve started noticing all the food that grows along our walk. We could feast on wild mustard, dandelion greens, bananas (not ripe yet), papayas, nasturtiums, apricots, apples and more that I can’t remember. Pretty amazing huh?

img_0157On another note, if you’re looking for band photos, Bam is running a summer special - only $200 gets your band the killer photos you deserve. Hurry up, though cuz days are getting booked left right and center! Just leave a comment here and I’ll see that ya get booked before the prices go back up.

It’s a chill weekend. Got a band coming to our recording studio tomorrow and we’ve been working on a million things to prepare for them and prepare to go to the Caribbean in 10 days.

Walkin’ the Walk

You know what they say… there’s them that walks the walk and them that talks the talk. I’d like to think I’m in the former category. To prove it.. here’s some pics from our walks! LOL

jun2flowerI love this shot of a flower Bam took. It reminds me to slow down and actually notice the beautiful flowers. They say if you meditate on the beauty of a flower, that is holds all the zen teachings you need in a lifetime. It’s true. Look at this thing. It looks unworldly!!!!

Lately I’ve been so loving the feel of summer that I bug Bam twice a day (like a dog?) to go for a walk. All I need is a leash and to start panting I suppose. Ha! (don’t even go there you naughty minded people!) It’s all in the spirit of meditation and feeling close to the planet and stretching my bones etc. I love it. I just love walking. jun2shaz

The other shot is in front of a neighbor’s yard. Notice the pink flowers… pink hair theme goin’ on? Ya gotta love that.

I’ve been so exhilarated lately with the joy of life. I’ve been listening to Wayne Dyer’s The Power of Intention Audio book and it’s reminding me of things I already knew and just needed a little nudge. Wonderful. Also… Bam and I just celebrated 13 years of wedded bliss together! Then there’s the fact that we’re off to Tortola in two weeks! Wow! I’m so excited. I visited the USVI a long, long time ago… there’s a whole story involved of moving onto a sailboat and surviving a small hurricane in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle and… well… for another day. Suffice to say that I’ve always been fascinated with the Caribbean and the clear warm blue waters. Wow. Bam will have his underwater housing for his Canon G9 camera and hopefully he/we will get some great and fun shots of fish and of us in the water! I think I coulda been a fish.

Speaking of photos, there’s been a lot of interest lately in Bam’s photos. We’ll get to a new site soon but for now, you can hit his old site with pics of Ashlee Simpson, Mary J Blige, Angels and Airwaves, Rufus Wainwright, Lifehouse just to name a few…  and if you want photos of your band he’s running a summer special (only if you’re here in LA of course)… $200 flat rate. Believe me… it’s a deal! Expires Sept 15, 2009. If you’re interested, just leave a comment here and feel free to spread the word.

Oh, and I just found out my old pal and band mate, Janet Gardner will be singing with Scrap Metal this weekend! So if you’re on the East Coast… be sure and check it out. It’s gonna be on Fox TV as well and she’ll be featured in PowerPlay Magazine in the UK! Right on Janet!!!!

And if you feel like you missed out on the whole Rock Camp thing. Fear thee not! I’m gonna be a regular Rock Star Counselor and they’ve got more camps lined up for Los Angeles in November. Wanna sign up? You get a discount for early bird signups! Just be sure to say that you saw it on Share Ross’s site when you sign up and request me for your counselor if you want to rock hard! It will be an experience that changes your life forever!

On another note, we have new episodes of Rock n Roll TV up and new Godaddy coupon codes so if you need a website domain or website hosting, saving money with our codes is just too easy! Do it.

Live life. Feel peace in your heart. Let kindness blossom in your soul.

New Episode of Rock n Roll TV! Alice and Obama; Rock Camp and more!

Hey All,

Just put up a new episode of Rock n Roll TV. Bam put together a really cool slideshow from the Rock n Roll Fantasy Camp photographs. Oh, and the song you hear in that segment is the original tune from my band of campers recorded at Capital with Eddie Kramer in a couple of hours. Good stuff! My favorite news story? Alice and Obama of course!!!! I love ALICE!!! We toured with him a few years ago as The Dogs D’Amour and it was such a blast and an honor. Great guy and that was where we really got to know the mega talented Teddy Zigzag too!

Be sure to use our sponsor’s codes and save money! This episode offers up Eastbay.com with 15% off using AFROCK15 and 20% orders over $75 using AFROCK20. (or go to Footlocker.com and use AFROCKFL for 15% off there!) Or… if you wanna find that special someone, use our eHarmony code: EHROCK and get 1 month free when you sign up for 3 months. Love makes the world go around after all.

In the options world, I added a double diagonal in IWM and a spec earnings calendar on HNZ. Looking for around 12-15% on IWM and 100-200% on HNZ. We shall see. Got plans for RIMM and AAPL later thanks to my brilliant trading partner.

Peace out.

Too Rock n Roll For The Whisky

SEE THE PHOTOS FROM ROCK CAMP!!
bandcampI lived to tell the tale of my first experience as Rock Star Counselor for Rock n Roll Fantasy Camp and even got thrown out of the Whisky after the gig! Yes! But let’s go back to the start. I had the only band of teenage campers in the place and let me tell you… they rocked! Ricky from Chattanooga on guitar is 16 and lives to play that geetar. He gave a lesson to a fellow camper…. a 47 year old camper and helped him figure out a guitar solo. How cool is that? Joey (14) and Jimmy (15) from Cleveland are brothers and play drums and guitar and I think they are perhaps the sweetest and hardest working musicians! They were so dedicated. Wow. Nick (18) from Talent, Oregon won a contest to be at the camp and surprised everyone with his prowess and natural ability on drums. Then he surprised us more by telling us he didn’t actually own a drum set! Finally, Dani (16) on vocals from Malibu. Not only can she sing… she can also play guitar, drums, bass and she probably plays keys too. Oh did I mention she is one helluva performer too? Wow. Yeah. My band had chops! I had a blast being their bass player!

My band, “Share’s Band on the Run” recorded at Capital on Saturday and was produced by Eddie Kramer. The band did a terrific job in the studio and I was sooo proud of them! Not an easy task when you’ve never recorded before and suddenly you’re in a giant room with headphones on and a big name producer telling you what to do!

campdressingroomHangin’ out and getting to know Alan White and Elliot Easton was fantastic. Seeing Kip Winger who Vixen toured with back in the day… and Bruce Kulick who I know from Hollywood hangs and Teddy Zigzag who the Dogs toured with 4 years ago… was a blast. Also found out that Sandy Gennaro and I played together after Vixen broke up. He reminded me that we actually had a band with Janet on vocals and a guitar player and we were called Renegade. None of us can remember what happened!?!!!

Oh, as for getting tossed out of the club. Yeah. Well, the Whisky is pretty lame anyway and anyone who’s ever played there will tell ya they kinda suck! LOL! The only bummer was that I missed the counselor jam and didn’t get to play with all those cats. But hey… somebody had to be rock n roll right???? We were all waaaaaay too nice!

All in all, it was a blast and a life changing experience. I loved everyone I met… Ally from Ukraine, Debbie, Lee, Natalie, Tony who just served in Iraq, Tony’s son, Francesca, Lindsay, Tom Repetny from the Mancow show (dude, you rock so hard), and so many many more. Of course there are the people who make it all happen from David Fishoff the impresario to Bradley who spreads his love and charm everywhere he goes to Courtney who kept it all organized and Tiffany our band manager who came up and sang bv’s onstage at the Whisky! What an amazing time. If I left anyone out, you can kick my ass the next time I see you but know you’re in my heart forever.

Rock Camp Update

shazduffIt’s been CRAZY these past few days. A blur and maniac pace… Steven Tyler came to visit and my band of campers played Same Old Song and Dance. Duff McKagan came and they jammed Johnny Thunders “I Wanna Be Loved”… Todd Rundgren came yesterday and we played “I love Rock n Roll” by Joan Jett and then played our original song for him and he liked the original track better. My band of campers are ages 14 - 18, they are the only bunch of teenagers in the camp and are called “Share’s Band On the Run”.

rundgrenWe were at Capital Records yesterday and had Eddie Kramer producing our song. I am the bassplayer so it was a thrill for me as well to be recorded by Eddie Kramer. Today is the big show at the Whisky. The band are super excited and I am as well. All 12 camper bands have 10 minutes each and then we have a counselor jam which I am looking forward to as well.

I’ve met some incredible people. Tony, the bassplayer who’s truck was hit in Iraq, Lee my fellow vegan bassplayer, then there is the chick doctor from Canada who looks like she lives, breathes and sleeps rock n roll and punk and sings her ass off. I still have to find out… doctor of what???? And that is just a few few few of the many amazing people. What happens at camp? Everyone turns into a little kid again and finds that joy of playing music. That is what happens. Not to mention the jams at night. Wow. Hanging out with Steve Lukather and his talented son and Carmine Appice and jamming with my old mates Bruce Kulick and Sandy Gennaro… it just goes on and on. This is a fantasy for more than the campers. It is a fantasy for us counselors as well. The opportunity to play Instant Karma with Alan White on drums? Yes. That is what I’ll be doing tonight at the Whisky.

Oh, and Bruce Kulick is keeping a blog that’s pretty cool too!

If you already got tickets… I’ll see you there at 7 tonight. If not…. I think it is sold out… so we will rock you virtually!
