Rock Camp Update
It’s been CRAZY these past few days. A blur and maniac pace… Steven Tyler came to visit and my band of campers played Same Old Song and Dance. Duff McKagan came and they jammed Johnny Thunders “I Wanna Be Loved”… Todd Rundgren came yesterday and we played “I love Rock n Roll” by Joan Jett and then played our original song for him and he liked the original track better. My band of campers are ages 14 – 18, they are the only bunch of teenagers in the camp and are called “Share’s Band On the Run”.
We were at Capital Records yesterday and had Eddie Kramer producing our song. I am the bassplayer so it was a thrill for me as well to be recorded by Eddie Kramer. Today is the big show at the Whisky. The band are super excited and I am as well. All 12 camper bands have 10 minutes each and then we have a counselor jam which I am looking forward to as well.
I’ve met some incredible people. Tony, the bassplayer who’s truck was hit in Iraq, Lee my fellow vegan bassplayer, then there is the chick doctor from Canada who looks like she lives, breathes and sleeps rock n roll and punk and sings her ass off. I still have to find out… doctor of what???? And that is just a few few few of the many amazing people. What happens at camp? Everyone turns into a little kid again and finds that joy of playing music. That is what happens. Not to mention the jams at night. Wow. Hanging out with Steve Lukather and his talented son and Carmine Appice and jamming with my old mates Bruce Kulick and Sandy Gennaro… it just goes on and on. This is a fantasy for more than the campers. It is a fantasy for us counselors as well. The opportunity to play Instant Karma with Alan White on drums? Yes. That is what I’ll be doing tonight at the Whisky.
Oh, and Bruce Kulick is keeping a blog that’s pretty cool too!
If you already got tickets… I’ll see you there at 7 tonight. If not…. I think it is sold out… so we will rock you virtually!
