When I was in high school, I was one of those rare kids who pretty much FAILED ART. It takes a special talent to really suck at drawing, sculpting, painting… anything and everything artsy… I was DREADFUL at it.  I mean really, really bad. But I still had a burning desire to create art. Don’t we all? Really? I think it is part of our human nature to create, to find our creativity and to step in to the river of inspiration. About 20 years ago, I discovered the book The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. It taught me how to see. How to look at things. To SEE the negative space. Suddenly, I had a positive art experience.

The same is true in words. There is a positive. And a negative.

In my last post, I discussed silence as the negative space. But this time let’s talk about the words.

The simplest example:
FOR=positive
AGAINST=negative

If you are FOR something, you are open to receiving. You are open to hearing. You are open to experiencing. If you talk about this thing you are FOR, anyone who hears you will have a greater chance of being open and hearing what you have to say.

If you are AGAINST something, you are not open to receiving. You are NOT open to hearing. You are fighting negative with negative. Even that phrase, “fighting negative with negative” is pushing against itself and is quite ugly.

Example:
I am FOR peace.
I am AGAINST war.

By giving peace my energy, I am focused on peace. Alternatively, by giving war my energy I am focused on war as much as I say I am against it.

by being ‘against’ something you are focusing energy on it and feeding the very beast you are against.

If you want to persuade people to your way of thinking, you need to open them up. You can do that by using POSITIVE words.

Rather than hating something, love the opposite thing. Rather than pushing an idea away from you, pull a positive idea towards you.

LOVE vs HATE
FOR vs AGAINST
WILL vs WON’T
DO vs DON’T

It’s so easy to state what we DON’T WANT. Say you are looking for a new career.
I don’t want to be underpaid again=I want to be paid well and feel valued.
I  don’t want to work for a jerk of a boss=I want to work for a wonderful boss who appreciates me.
I don’t want a job that makes me feel less than=I want a job where I can feel important.

Spin it around to what you DO want.

The same can be applied to ANY goal you have.

“The quality of your life is determined by the quality of your communication.” ~ Tony Robbins.

by changing your thinking and your words into the positive you allow the space to be filled with what you are attracting.

The quality of your communication includes your self talk:
I don’t want to be single=I want to feel loved and appreciated.
I hate being lonely=I love spending alone time and know I will find people to share meaningful experiences with.
I’m tired of being broke=I know I am manifesting abundance in every way possible and am worthy of prosperity.

Spin your own. Tweak it. Rewrite your personal mission. Take a good look at your goals. How about your desires? Be sure to ONLY write the positives.

Oh and back to the art thing. I did finally overcome my art anxiety and learned to draw and paint from that book.  If I can go from stickman drawings to painting Miles Davis in “blue”, then you can learn to see the space.

Think. Breathe. Love. Live. Find the positive in what you want, dream about, desire, and think to yourself. And you will find the path to abundance.
